Birth photography is all about story- telling and serves as a beautiful way to process a birth. There are so many moments which would otherwise go unnoticed, that birth images bring you the joy of remembering -- your mom gently tucking your hair behind your ear, your dog at the window making sure you are okay, the moment you realized you just DID IT! Having these moments on camera allows for this visual story to be passed down from generation to generation- to relive a moment in time that shows the incredible strength of a mother, the overwhelming joy of a father, and the miracle that every birth is.
Newborn and Fresh 48
If you aren't sure you want images of the birth, but still want to preserve the freshness of that tiny baby, this is for you. If your newborn has siblings, it is always so fun to capture the tender emotions that come with them meeting for the first time. These sessions are organic and documentary- style, with less posing and more intention to capture the genuine expressions of the family.
Maternity
Maternity photos are the time to capture the ephemeral beauty and miraculous strength of the pregnant body. These can be at any point in your pregnancy that you feel glowy and gorgeous, lasting up to an hour at location of your choice.
Experience and Education:
I am a certified holistic birth doula through The Matrona, a certified Birth Assistant through Willow Tree Wellness, and the only Birth Becomes You certified birth photographer in West Tennessee. I have attended over 30 births and served over 40 families. I have practiced photography my entire life - starting with flip phones and my moms digital cameras, to studying art and design in college at the University of Tennessee. Allowing my passion for honoring mothers in birth and the art of storytelling through imagery to meet one another, has opened up my heart in ways that are hard to express with words. It is my deepest honor to be invited into birth spaces, and to hopefully leave a positive and lasting impact on mothers and families - helping them preserve memories of the biggest moment of their lives, the moment where a new soul is written in the universe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you attend hospital births
Absolutely! I have no preference on where you birth. My goal for each client is that they birth where they feel most safe and held.
How far in advance should I book you for a birth?
Many of my clients book out around 7 or 8 months in advance. I usually take a month or 2 off of birth work per year for vacations, so if you want a space held on my calendar- reach out as soon as possible.
How long does it take to get our photos?
I will deliver a sneak peek gallery within 48 hours. My turnaround time for an entire birth gallery is around 6 weeks, give or take.
Do you have a package that includes doula and photography services?
Yes, I give a large discount to those who want doula and photography documentation. A big bulk of my fee is due to holding time on my calendar to be on call for you, so this is reflected in my pricing.
